Project 333 Meets 100 Things

11 01 2013

Quite some time ago, I found Project 333. If you’re new to the concept, go here. I was am excited about the minimalistic idea, but the number seems very…..small. It’s suppose to include all accessories, handbags, shoes, and scarves. {LOVE me a good scarf!}

 I’ve settled on a variation of Project 333, calling it my 100 wardrobe. {100 Things is a different challenge, and the term is often used to mean literally owning 100 things.} For now, I’ve worked my wardrobe down to 100 items, including the goodies! image

I figure it’s not the number 33 that works magic, it’s the act of editing to make a gorgeous wardrobe from all the mismatched bits!

For the record, my quilt fabric takes up more space than my clothing and accessories now. I’m working to edit the quilt fabric and use up some of those languishing fabrics that have seen fresher days!

My “uniform” of sorts is black, a fact about which I am often teased. But if it works with my coloring, who am I to worry that it reminds people of death and such?

I’ll continue to whittle and define my clothing style, although I doubt I’ll ever own one single handbag or pair of shoes. I only own one pair of jeans, so I guess it’s possible!  A wise woman once told me she was working towards “less but better”. {We lived in Italy at the time and she was consigning most of her household, or at least it seemed to me, at the post thrift shop.} The lesson stuck, and with shoes and handbags, as they wear out, I’ll work towards “less but better”. For now I’m doing the ultimate green (and frugal) thing-I’m working with the nice things I already own, both in my closet and my sewing room! =}

You go! I’m too busy sewing to organize my closet . . . but my wardrobbe needs attention. “Less but better” is a great motto!
