Lookie, lookie!

27 03 2012

Look what arrived in my mailbox today!! Woohoo!

Nancy Mims, Pich a Bunch Jelly Roll!

I’m excited about using this!

I’m not sure what this will become,

but I ♥ this pattern for jaybird quilts!

It will probably wind up with some serious Kona Cotton Snow or Bella Solids White.

Wonder what this bit of Eva by Basic Grey will become?

My Scrap Bin Overfloweth

7 04 2010

I heart fabric. I think most quilters do…..

And I’m completely aware that there are quilters who don’t have much fabric available. I was one of those gals when we lived overseas for a few years. It was a fun time, and we were able to get handmade lace there. Just not quilt fabric. Or the internet. Or CD’s or real tv. But I digress. My point is there places on this big planet with no access to quilt fabrics. (I think this point becomes moot if you can buy silk and cashmere, right?)

Today, I’m thankful for this scrap bin which is overflowing with leftover goodness. I’ve always liked leftovers done right!! I played in the scrap bin today, and came up with some ultra-cute potholders, not to be confused with the Geico pothole.

I’ve been trying to work that into a post for at least a week! I love this gal’s voice….makes me miss home. I know people like her, I really do. <sigh>

The potholders, in all their scrappy goodness:

 ’Kay byyye…..

Vintage Sheeting Repurposed

26 03 2010

While reading a blog about retro and vintage sheets….

Me: Hey, that one looks familiar, wonder if my parents still have it? (thinking I would have to search diligently on the web just to find my very own copy!)

Mom: Yep, we still have it, I’ll hunt for it, ok?

Mom (on last trip down): Here, you can have it, we were using it as a paint cloth.

 Me: Really? Sold!

I’m sure when next she visits, my mom will be sent home with various things in return! I should probably give them a paint cloth, too, since they’re now without one! Meanwhile, I’ll be brainstorming about how to disguise the paint spots. Any suggestions?

PS: The adorable two-year old in this picture is now learning to drive, while her mom buries her head in the sand!

Sewing Olympics Challenge #5-Gold!

22 02 2010

Fabric is tidied, floor is free of fluff and bits o’ thread.

And Mr. Cutie Patootie found a napping spot!

 Shhh….we’re hiding.
