Valentine’s Day Sewing

I’ve been recently watching the trends of pixelated quilts, and wanting to try my hand at a small, easy shape. So, just in time for Valentine’s Day, I’ve dug out a mini charm pack of “A Walk in the Woods” by Aneela Hoey. (Incidentally, it was a freebie at the Moda booth at Quiltcon. So awesome to still be using Quiltcon memories in my studio!) This cute mini charm pack was just the right size to put together a simple heart, and it also has mushrooms and foxes on it! An instragram friend recently used a charm pack for a larger quilt. The pattern would work for all three, mini charm packs, charm packs, and layer cakes, depending on how big you want your heart quilt! Leave a comment if you’re thinking of making a heart quilt or a pixelated quilt of any shape!

  1. I have shied away from trying pixelated quilts, thinking they were all made from thousands of pieces. I once saw a quilted version of DaVinci’s “Last Supper” made with 1/2″ squares. Wow! I would never have the patience to tackle such a huge project. But your mini heart – I could do that!
