I’m doing a little binding today, and I keep coming back to a thought.
Sometimes, a job needs to be done right! Now, making spaghetti sauce doesn’t have to be exact, and neither does a made bed. I can throw clothes from the washer to the dryer, and pretty much assume that all will come out okay in the end. However, there are chores that are exact. Baking is an exact science. And apparently, so is hand binding.
There are plenty of other ways to finish a quilt by machine, and when I’m truly pressed for time, that’s the way it gets done. And I can automate all sorts of things about the quilting process. But sometimes quality means taking the time. Sometimes quality demands that even on a charity baby quilt, we do the best we know how!
Here’s to making something by hand!
